Progress Photographs


1. The new channel for the River Trent and Fowlea Brook running adjacent to Cornwallis Street is nearing completion. The photograph shows work continuing with the construction of a profiled channel and stone bed it also shows the otter ledge running along the Eastern wall.         



2. This photograph show work currently underway within the central reserve South of City Road junction. The sheet piles shown on each side of the photograph supported the excavation that enabled the first two sections of Woodhouse Street culvert to be constructed. With the traffic now switched to run over these completed sections of culvert the sheet piles can be removed and the ground excavated to enable the final section to be constructed.

View looking North just South of City Road junction showing the construction of the open channel that will allow the River Trent and Fowlea Brook to flow through the underpass before linking in with Woodhouse Street culvert enabling the rivers to flow under the A500 to join the open channel adjacent to Cornwallis Street.

5. Modifications currently underway to the existing River Trent culvert just North of City Road junction. This will allow the existing culvert to join a new open channel that is being constructed where the Trent joins Fowlea Brook enabling both rivers to flow through City Road underpass.

The channel continues on from Brook Street culvert that was constructed last year and will allow Fowlea Brook to flow under the A500 from the existing culvert that flows adjacent to St Peters Church to join the River Trent just North of City Road.

12. Work to strengthen the existing Fowlea Brook channel that runs through the northern section of the site adjacent to the New Shelton on-slip road. The slip road has been closed for the duration of this works.
