The complex nature of the project means that single lane closures during off peak times will still be necessary. This is to ensure the safety of our workforce and to keep traffic moving as freely as possible through the works.
From Monday 23rd October the A500 mainline will be reduced to a single lane between City Road junction and Stoke Road junction on both the north and south bound carriageways from 9:00am to 4:30pm. The lane closures are necessary to enable the safe completion of the works and will be in place for approximately three weeks
Lane one of the northbound carriageway from Stoke Road junction will remain closed. This is to enable the refurbishment of the existing brick wall separating the properties on North Street from the A500.
Traffic accessing Wieldon Road from City Road junction is currently using a temporary alignment, this is necessary to enable the construction of a reinforced earth wall and environmental barrier. Work is also be continuing with the construction of the permanent A500 southbound on-slip road from City Road junction.
